Samantha Northey

Sam studied Chinese at Edinburgh before moving to China in 2003, later completing her MBA at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and University of Cape Town.  She was based in Beijing until 2017, where she worked in a senior capacity for non-profit, large corporations and family-owned businesses.

Sam currently runs her own start-up, Navic8, which supports Chinese companies and brands to grow internationally.  She has held a number of industry representative roles including BritCham Executive Committee Board Member, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) International Consultancy Commission Member; Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in China’s Agriculture, Food & Beverage Industry Working Group and China Britain Business Council’s Food, Drink and Agriculture Forum and was Ambassador for the UK Government’s “Bright Crop” Program to encourage more young people to develop a career in Agriculture.

Prior to moving to Beijing in 2003, she worked in Sales & Marketing for the Financial Times, Heals & Sons and the Commodities Research Unit in London.  Sam is fluent in written and spoken Mandarin.
